This past February, Scott of Alaska HDTV, Mark Tafoya of Culinary Media Network, and Scott McMurren from Alaska TravelGram took a trip out to experience Winterlake Lodge, which is hosted by Kirsten and Carl Dixon.
It’s a trip of a lifetime and if you’re seeking that remote Alaska experience with all the flavors of home, adventure, relaxation, and good good cooking - This is the place for you! We each produced our own piece on this amazing corner of Alaska and hope to hear your Winterlake Lodge experiences soon.

Head to wilderness for fine food, wine and pampering
Think of Milepost 198 on the Iditarod Trail. It’s upstream from Lake Creek, not quite to Rainy Pass.
Right away, many of us would write this off as “flyover territory,” save for the odd Irondogger, dog musher or other crazy adventurer.
This is where Carl and Kirsten Dixon operate Winterlake Lodge, a year-round getaway for adventurers, food lovers and folks who want to put some space between themselves and the outside world of traffic jams and cell phones.
The lodge sits atop a small bluff overlooking Finger Lake. A big cathedral ceiling tops the two-story windows, which face south, framing the lake and the snow-capped peaks beyond. […] More…

Excellently produced show guys! I loved every second of it. I being a huge aviation and Alaska fan this show gave me both in exquisite detail. I LOVED IT! Thanks Scott and team!

Thanks Jeff!
The part I truly love about flying over Alaska in any small plane, there is the genuine raw and free feeling that’s liberating. Must be that experience that inspired Pioneers of this young State. I’m too young to know - so it’s the next best thing. I will say going to a place like Winterlake really is an amazing experience - especially in the winter months! I’ve heard summer is just as amazing… Perhaps one day again.
Thanks for dropping a line!

In the 70s a freind had a cobin on the back side of big lake that looks like the thing no one for miles and quite just the wife and kids. NICE
could you get to the lodge in the summer and show the flowers and fish?

The podcast once again, took me away.
Sure seems remote, and it was sad to see it so empty.
Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the winter fly-in…
